Ollie Virginia “Ginny” Black, 89, of 142 Dangerfield Dr. Rocky Gap, VA formerly of Elkhorn, WV, passed away Monday September 3, 2012 at her home. Born February 21, 1923 in Hines, WV, she was a daughter of the late Bernard C. and Della Hines Moore. Mrs. Black had been a resident of Elkhorn, WV for 61 years before moving to Rocky Gap 6 years ago. She was a member of the Elkhorn United Methodist Church for 67 years and was a graduate of Rupert High School. In addition Mrs. Black was a member of the United Methodist Women, the Wesleyan Service Guild, American Legion #38 of Gary, Veterans of Foreign Wars of Black Rock, the Red Diamond Association, and an avid WVU fan.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband; Lawrence E. Black, a sister; Thelma Spencer Garnett Hacker, and a brother; Kenneth Moore.
Survivors include, three children; Patricia “Pat” Beard and husband William “Bill” of Summersville, SC, Larry Black and wife Donna of Bluewell, WV, and David Black and wife Ruth of Rocky Gap, VA, a brother; Clifford Moore of TX, nine grandchildren; Michael, Michelle, Chris, Laura, Matthew, Robbie, Fame, Tiffany, and Raven, and nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services for Mrs. Black will be conducted Wednesday September 5, 2012 at 1:00 PM at the Wallace Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum located at Sam Black, WV with the Rev. Olen Robertson officiating. Friends and family members will be serving as pallbearers.
The Family will receive friends at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home on Wednesday September 5 , 2012 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM.
