Samuel Harrison Butler, age 92, of HC83 Box 77B, Gap Mills, and formerly of Anawalt, passed away on Monday, August 27, 2012 at his home.
Born on June 20, 1920 in KY, he was a son of the late Walter and Nan Peters Butler. He had been a resident of Gap Mills for 14 years and was a member of the Maybeury Church of God. He was a retired coal miner and was a member of the UMWA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lakie Lou Greer Butler; 2 sons, Jessie Butler and Ronnie Butler; and his brothers and sisters. He was the last surviving member of his family.

Carroll Martin and husband Thomas of Gap Mills, WV
Joyce Keene and husband Hobert of Mt. Holly, NC
10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Friends may call one hour prior to services, from 10:00-11:00 AM at the funeral Home.
