Bessie Ellen Whitteker

Bessie Ellen Mullins Whitteker, 94 of Duhring, WV, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 19, 2012. Her faith in God and hope in Heaven is now her Joy and our comfort. She passed away peacefully at home in the presence of her family. She was born on January 22, 1918. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter C. Whitteker and her parents. Andrew Jackson Mullins and Lillie Mae Belcher Mullins. One brother Roy Mullins of Kimball, WV, and three sisters; Bertha Gentry of Bluefield, WV, Ethel Leighton of Bluefield, WV, and Grace Howard of Thomasville, NC. She is survived by her Son Walter "Wayne" Whittaker and his wife Peggy of King, NC, where Bessie resided. A granddaughter Melissa Willis and husband Dean and one great grandson Jacob of Rocky Gap, Va. Three step granddaughters and 7 step-great grandchildren. She also had multiple nieces and nephews that loved her dearly. Bessie loved taking care of her flowers, reading her Bible and caring for her family. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Pastor Jeff Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call on Wednesday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
