BLUEFIELD — Betty Sue Lusk, 71, of Rt. 1 Box 288 (Sandlick Road), Bluefield, W.Va., passed away on Monday, July 30, 2012 at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, N.C. Betty was born on Tuesday, June 17, 1941 in Coalwood, W.Va., to the late Frank and Virginia Ellis Carroll. She had been a resident of Sandlick Road for the past 31 years and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. She and her late husband were the owners and operators of Lusk Disposal, Empire Salvage and Recycling, Bio Tech, Lusk and Sons and Containers LLC. She was a prominent business owner, landholder and influence in the community.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Gordon M. Lusk, and bothers, Frank Carroll Jr., Charles Carroll, Bill Carroll, Robert Carroll, Earnest (Red) Carroll; and sister, Ruby Tabor.
Survivors include two sons, Gordon Lusk II and wife, Angie, of Bluefield, W.Va., Danny Lusk and wife, Jennifer, of Bluefield, W.Va.; brothers, Roger Carroll and wife, Vicki, Ronnie Carroll and wife, Debbie; sisters, Patricia Davis and husband, Bill, Peggy Thompson and husband, Charles, Shelby McPherson and husband, Larry, Brenda Thompson and husband, J.W., Donna (Sis) Lusk and husband, David, Catherine Morris, Thelma Davis, Virginia Johnson, Charlene Blankenship, Elizabeth Blankenship; grandchildren, Travis Lusk and wife, Christine, Gary Lusk and Ashley, Gordon Lusk III; great-granddaughters, Madilyn and Kira; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell, W.Va. with the Rev. David Lusk and the Rev. Roger Carroll officiating. Burial will follow at The Carroll Cemetery on Sandlick Road in Bluefield, W.Va., where grandsons and David Lusk, Paul Curto, and Mark Neal will be serving as pallbearers.
