Joan A. “Nina” Stotts, 74, formerly of Bramwell, WV passed away July 16, 2012 at home with her family at her bedside in Portage, Michigan. Joan was the only daughter of Forest Allen and Carl White Allen and was a 1956 graduate of Bramwell High School, Bramwell, WV. She owned and operated Joan’s Ceramic Shop in Bramwell and retired from JC Penney, Mercer Mall, Bluefield, WV. She was a resident of Bramwell most of her life but during the last four years lived in Michigan with her youngest daughter and family. Joan was a member of Bramwell Presbyterian Church while living in WV, but later became a member of St. Michael Lutheran Church (LCMS), Portage, Michigan, where her daughter and family attend. She enjoyed reading, talking on the phone to her oldest daughter Vickie and granddaughter Ashley, Aunt Dosca, and playing with her “little man” Simba the cat. She is preceded in death by her parents Forest and Carl Allen. Joan leaves behind to cherish her memory her children; Vickie Kozar Goins & husband Kelly Goins; Bramwell, WV and Carla Stotts Bradley & husband Terry Bradley, Portage, MI. Two beautiful granddaughters Ashley Lauren Goins, Bluefield, WV and Hailey Gabrielle Bradley, Portage, MI. A special to her heart Aunt-Dosca Kirk, Bluefield, VA; and Simba the cat. Extended family Mary & John Bradley, Portage, MI and Deb Bradley Sorgen & husband Rick also of Portage, MI. Cravens-Shires Funeral Home, Bluewell, WV is assisting the family. Two separate Memorial Services will be held; Portage, MI-St. Michael Lutheran Church, Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at 6:30 pm; West Virginia-Cravens-Shires Funeral Home, Saturday, July 28, 2012, 7pm-8pm visitation; Memorial Service 8pm. In lieu of flowers; contributions in her honor may be made to St. Michael Lutheran School Scholarship Fund, 7211 Oakland Drive, Portage, MI 49024 or Hospice Care of SW Michigan, 222 N. Kalamazoo Mall, Suite 100, Kalamazoo, MI 49007-3882. She was loved dearly by her family and will live on in the hearts of her children and grandchildren.
