Princeton—Eva Darlene Adkins, age 57, of Princeton, W.Va., passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2012 at her home. Born on November 17, 1954 in Bluefield, W.Va., she was the daughter of Barbara and the late Everette Beggs. She was a lifetime resident of Mercer County and a faithful member of Carr Memorial United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Montcalm High School Class of 1973. She received her Bachelors in Education from Bluefield State College and her Masters Degree from West Virginia University. Mrs. Adkins was a full time teacher for Mercer County Schools for 27 years and touched the lives of hundreds of children. Darlene loved being outdoors tending to her animals and her beautiful rose gardens. She dearly loved her family and was always there for everyone with a smile and a kind word of encouragement. She will forever be remembered for her loving and genuine heart, compassion for others, and sheer determination in life. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered as a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Hope Blevins and husband Jason of Princeton, son Justin Adkins and wife Candace also of Princeton; her grandchildren, Sydney Adkins, Matthew Blevins, and Lilly Adkins; her mother Barbara Beggs of Princeton; sister Janet Beggs of Princeton; sister Loretta Lusk and husband Johnny of Princeton; brother Junior Beggs and wife Sheila of Bluefield, a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins and a special canine companion, Ike. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 36 years Rick Adkins. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 1:00pm at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Reverend Kenneth Price officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Princeton. Serving as pallbearers are Jason Blevins, Matthew Blevins, Adam Pettrey, Jonathon Lusk, Cody Beggs, and Brian Hatfield. Friends may call on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 from 6 to 8:00pm at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell. Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.cravens-shires.com.
