Rev. Wade Cecil Bishop

BLUEFIELD, WV--- Rev. Wade Cecil “Big Boy” Bishop, Sr. age 83, of 524 Harry Ave. Bluefield, WV went home to be with his Heavenly Father after a long battle with Alzheimers on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at his residence. Born June 19, 1928 in Yard, VA , he was son of the late Isom Troy and Daisy Caroline Fortner Bishop. Mr. Bishop retired from the Norfolk and Southern railroad after 39 years of service and was a member of the Brotherhood or Maintence of Way. He was the Pastor of Christian Mission Church for many years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his five brothers and one sister. Survivors include, his loving wife of 62 years, Adelene Farley Bishop of the home. One son, Wade Cecil Bishop Jr. and wife Diane of Roanoke, VA One daughter, Kathy Diane Proffitt and husband Randal of Bluefield, WV. Three grandchildren, Heather Proffitt, James Proffitt and wife Amanda, and Jonathan Bishop. Three great-great grandchildren, Joshua Proffitt, Scotty Proffitt, and Mason Proffitt. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell, WV with Rev. Sherman Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton, WV. Friends may call Tuesday, June 12, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Family and friends will serve as Pallbearers.
