Carl Eugene (Boogie) Sparks, age 70, of 1470 Fox Hollow Way, North Myrtle Beach, SC, formerly of Roanoke, VA and Bramwell, WV, died Friday, June 8, 2012 at a Myrtle Beach hospital.
He was born on March 13, 1942 in McComas, WV to the late Joseph W. and Hazel B. Sparks. Mr. Sparks was retired from the United States Army after more than 20 years of service including over 2 years in Vietnam. He was also retired from the United States Postal Service. His hobbies included golf, fishing and music. He was a member of the Little River United Methodist Church in Little River, SC.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Toler Sparks; brothers, Elmer Sparks and Donnie Sparks; and sisters, Evelyn Repass and Jean Dillo.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday June 12, 2012 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, WV with Dr. David Dockery officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV where military graveside honors will be performed by the West Virginia Honor Guard and the Mercer County Veterans Council. Friends may call on Monday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Ronald McDonald House, SW Virginia, 2224 South Jefferson St., Roanoke, VA 24014.
