Thori "Katie" VanHoose

Thori “Katie” VanHoose, age 90, of Princeton, WV, surrounded by her family, went to be with her LORD on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center after a short illness. Born on April 17, 1922 at Elkhorn, WV, she was a daughter of the late Edgar D. Sheets and Bertha Sage Sheets. Katie lived in McDowell County (Keystone and Welch) most of her life before moving to Bluefield, VA and then Princeton, WV. She was a homemaker and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Princeton. She will always be remembered for her love and devotion to her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Denny VanHoose; her first husband, Jake Dotson; infant brothers, Virgil and Jesse Sheets; sisters, Martha Sheets, Ruth Pruitt, Betty Lester, Maggie Dalton and Wilma Brown; grandson, Bryan VanHoose; a niece, Nancy Sturges; and a nephew, Michael Brown. Survivors include: Sons: Robert “Bob” Dotson and wife Lisa of Chicago, IL James (Jim) Dotson and wife Brenda of Bluefield, VA Step-Son: Denny VanHoose, Jr. and wife Pat of Princeton, WV Brother: William (Bill) Sheets of Princeton, WV Sister: Peggy Price of Toledo, OH Special Niece: Peggy Dale of Bluefield, WV Grandchildren: Christine Dotson Abel, Jason Dotson and Shane VanHoose and wife Marlene. Great-Grandchildren: Brendan and Leah Abel Funeral services will be held to celebrate Katie’s life on Sunday May 6, 2012 at 3:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Dan Jividen and Rev. Danny Pruitt officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens on the Bluefield-Tazewell Road. Her family and friends will be serving as pallbearers. Friends may call on Saturday evening from 6-9 PM at the funeral home.
