Wesley Perkins, Jr., age 65, of 110 Brook Lane, Princeton, WV, passed away of Sunday, April 8, 2012 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Born on March 30, 1947 in Asco, he was the son of James and Bertha Bishop Perkins. He had been a resident of Princeton for 3 ½ years and attended the Harbor Light Baptist Church in Glenwood. He served in the US Army from 1965-67 and was a Vietnam veteran. He worked for the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) in Suitland, MD for 43 years. He was a member of the VFW Post #1144 Iaeger. He loved being a part of the “Asco Holler Reunion” and was the writer for the announcement each year.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Frank Perkins.

5 grandchildren: Nathaniel Perkins, Austin Shifflet, Brandon Shifflet, Kayla Shifflet, Keira Perkins
1 sister: Mary Juanita Sirbaugh of Bluefield
2 brothers: Marlin Perkins of Sun City, CA
Thomas Perkins of Olive Hill, KY
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Robert Lane of Abingdon, VA officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell where military honors will be conducted by the VFW Iaeger Post #1144. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call on Thursday from 1:00-2:00 at the funeral home.
