Irvin Vernon Lusk

Bluefield- Irvin Vernon Lusk, 90, of Sedgewood Townhouses, Bluefield, VA, went to be with his Lord and savior on Saturday March 17, 2012 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. Born January 2, 1922 in McComas, WV he was the son of the late Rufus and Nora Harmon Lusk. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army and was wounded in action and received the Purple Heart. Mr. Lusk was a retired coal miner of 38 years and a member of the U.M.W.A. He enjoyed going to Bluefield Orioles games and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 66 years; Marie Frances Krondon Lusk of the home, four daughters; Shelia Robertson of Bluefield, VA, Regina Shoda of Bluefield, VA, Yolanda Hill and husband Wiley of Abbs Valley, VA, and Melissa Lingerfelt and husband John of Bluefield, VA, seven grandchildren; Jeffrey Robertson and wife Nancy of Ft. Mill, SC, Russell Robertson of Orlando, FL, Tina Beth Flanigan and husband Rod of Princeton, WV, Nikole Daye and husband Kevin of Harrisonburg, VA, Michael Shoda and wife Jen of Naples, FL, Chanteau Stanley and husband Shawn of Abbs Valley, VA, and Dustin Cain of Bluefield, VA, and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Lusk will be conducted on Tuesday March 20, 2012 at 7:00 P.M. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel located in Bluewell, WV with the Revs. David Kirby and David Lusk officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 P.M. until time of services. Committal services will be conducted on Wednesday March 21, 2012 at 1:00 P.M.at Roselawn Memorial Gardens located in Princeton, WV where military graveside rites will be conducted by the West Virginia Honor guard and the Mercer County Veterans Council. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons. Those attending the committal services are asked to meet at Cravens –Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell by 12:30 P.M. on Wednesday March 21, 2012.
