Shirley A. Spencer, age 67, of Box 180 Pageton, WV passed away Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Princeton Community Hospital after a long battle with cancer. Born on November 11, 1944 in Anawalt, she was a daughter of the late Dan and Marie Parks. She was raised by Robert D. and Geneva Gable Jones. She was a retired certified nursing assistant from the McDowell Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Gary. She had worked there with 23 years of faithful service. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was loved by all. She was a true Christian and was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Gary. She is now in Heaven where she is walking the streets of gold with no more pain. She really made her place with GOD. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, William, Harold, and Aronald Parks and a sister, Silvia Bixby. Survivors: Husband of 41 years, Jessie W. Spencer, Jr. “June Bug” of the home Children: Marlene Spencer and companion David Jackson of Spencer Curve Jessie W. Spencer, III and wife Kathy of Tobaccoville, NC Michael P. Spencer and wife Felicia of Pageton Phillip C. Spencer and wife Lori of Narrows, VA Sisters: Peggy Kress of Princeton and Brenda Rose and husband Ernest of Skygusty Grandchildren: Kimberly Waldron of the home, Keri Waldron and her companion Tony Billings of Nemours, Raven Spencer of Lenoir, NC, Dallas Spencer of Tobaccoville, NC, Zak Spencer of Granite Falls, NC, Mikie Spencer of Pageton, Dylan Spencer of Narrows, VA, Aaron Ashley of Pageton, Alyssa Spencer of Drexel, NC, Tessi Whittaker of Narrows, VA, and Tyler Whittaker of Narrows, VA. Great-grandchildren: Seyona Waldron of Nemours and Hartley Billings of Nemours Great-great-grandchild: Lyric Andrew Bryce Spencer of Granite Falls, NC She is also survived by a large bunch of friends whom she loved very much, especially, Shelby and neighbors. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 27, 2012 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev Richard Sturgel and Rev. John Jenkins officiating. Friends may call from 12:00 – 1:00 PM prior to the service. The family is accepting online condolences at www.cravens-shires.com. The Cravens-Shires Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
