Franklin "Chubby" Dale Collins

Franklin (Chubby) Dale Collins, a greatly loved and respected individual, born November 6th, 1947 went to be with the Lord on February 5th, 2012 after a long illness. Frank was a lifelong resident of McDowell County and a recent resident of Mercer County. Chubby was a Vietnam Veteran of the United States Navy, and attended Montcalm United Methodist Church. Frank was the son of Franklin (Bo) Collins and Ruby Collins of Big Sandy, WV. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Ruby, and his first wife Carolyn Campenilla of Roderfield, WV. Chubby is survived by his two sons, Franklin Eric Collins and Charles Christopher Collins, whom he shared with Carolyn, and three grandchildren, Brenna, Caleb, and Erica. He is presently married to Leeta Quillian Collins of Montcalm, WV. Frank and Leeta share their home with two children, Lonnie Darrell and Casey Lynn Perkins, and two grandchildren, Darrell Christopher and Allayla Michelle. Frank has two living brothers, Roger Collins and wife Cathy of Big Sandy, and George “Jody” Collins and wife Betty of Blountville, TN, two living sisters, Pat Piercy of Beckley, and Reda Ward of North Carolina, among several nieces and nephews and special caregivers, the doctos and staff at the VA Medical Center in Beckley and Bluefield Regional Medical Center . A loving husband and father, Frank will be missed dearly by family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell where Rev. David Ratcliff will proudly officiate. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Ieager VFW Post 1144 and Bradshaw American Legion will be conducting Veteran’s Honor Services. Friends may call on Tuesday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
