Junior Thurmond Taylor

Rev. Junior Thurmond Taylor 87 of Bluefield, West Virginia (Sandlick) went to be with Jesus on Monday, January 09, 2012 at his home in Sandlick. Mr. Taylor was born on Sunday, May 25, 1924 in McComas, West Virginia to the late Allen Taylor and Bertha Mae Lusk and Stepfather Robert Poore. He was a wonderful husband and a great father as well as a grand-father, great- grand father and great- great- grandfather. Rev. Taylor retired from the coal mines after 16 years of service. He was a devout Christian and spent 65 years as a preacher. Junior was the Overseer of The Bible Church of God and at one time was the District Overseer of Bluefield, West Virginia Church of God of Prophecy. Throughout his life he has preached on Street Corners, in tents on a Radio Station in Princeton, West Virginia and in many churches throughout the region. He has been responsible for leading many to Christ. He will be greatly missed by all but never forgotten. In addition to his parents and step father he was preceded in death by one son Earl Junior Taylor and three brothers; Garney Lusk, Everett Taylor, and Michael Poore, and a sister, Lorrine Young. Left to cherish his memory: His wife of 68 years Rosa Danish Tucker Taylor of the home Two Sons: Jerry Allen Taylor and wife Clara of Princeton, West Virginia Terry Wayne Taylor and wife Lisa of Green Valley, West Virginia Five Daughters: Brenda Mooney and husband Fred of Sandlick, West Virginia Linda O’Donell and husband Calvin of Princeton, West Virginia Debby Jones and husband Gary of Princeton, West Virginia Dianna East and husband Michael of Windmill Gap, West Virginia Glenna Dempsey and husband Arnold of Bluewell, West Virginia Five Brothers: Steve Poore and wife Janice of King, North Carolina Roger Poore and wife Sue of Princeton, West Virginia Fairley Poore and wife Lee of Clinton, Maryland Cecil Tooley and wife Evelyn of Princeton, West Virginia Jimmy Poore and wife Rosie of Fayetteville, North Carolina Five Sisters: Lula Belle “Peedo” Jones of Sandlick, West Virginia Edna Mae “Bootsie” Lynch of Bluewell, West Virginia Judy Roberts and husband Larry of Sandlick, West Virginia Wanda Blevins and husband Jeff of King, North Carolina Leona Shrewsbury and husband Arnold of Cottage City, Maryland 18 Grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and 1 great- great- grandchild A very special thank you to the special friends and family who have helped in caring for Junior as well as all the special friends he made from Amedisys Hospice Service as they helped with the wonderful care and support they provided to Junior and our family. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, West Virginia with the Ministers Fred Mooney and Steve Poore officiating the service. Burial will follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell, West Virginia where family members will be serving as pallbearers.
