Harold Eugene Wimmer, age 85, of Route 4 Box 340, Bluefield, WV, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at the Woltz Hospice House in Dobson, NC.
Born on December 13, 1925 in Monticello, WV, he was a son of the late Morris B. and Ethel Dalton Wimmer. He had been a resident of Bluefield for 50 years and was a member of the Gospel Life Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, NC. He was retired from the US Army as a staff sergeant with Co. D 259th Infantry 65 Division, and was a recipient of the Bronze Star. He was a veteran of World War II.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 3 brothers, Arnold, Dewey, and Melville Wimmer.

Wife: Eva Wimmer of Winston-Salem, NC
2 sons: Robert Wimmer of Pinnacle, NC
Roger Wimmer and wife Patsy of Sparta, NC
5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren
1 brother: Dennis Wimmer and Carolyn of Bluewell
1 sister: Ava Stowers of Tazewell, VA
Special friends and caregivers: Amedysis Hospice of Bluefield, Woltz Hospice of Dobson, NC and Pilot Mountain Hospice.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, December 9, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. James Mooney and Rev. Ann Nash officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton with military honors being conducted by the Mercer County Veterans Council and the WV Honor Guard. Gene Nash, Arthur Blevins, Billy Wimmer, Morris Wimmer, Eddie Butt, and Danny Epperson will serve as pallbearers.
