Edward Basil Poff, age 94, of 171 Sheppet Street (Bluewell), Bluefield, WV, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at the Maples Nursing Home in Bluefield.
Born on May 19, 1917 in Floyd County, VA, he was a son of the late Charles and Ollie Poff Poff. He had been a resident of Bluewell for 35 years and was a 1934 graduate of Northfork High School. Ed was a member of the Bluewell United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Gleaners Sunday school class and he also was a former little league baseball coach in Northfork. He was a veteran of the US Army and was a member of the VFW Post 3112. He formerly worked at Leatherwood Milk Company, Bluewell Public Service District, and was a retired coal miner and was a member of the UMWA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 4 brothers.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Stephen Rector and Rev. D. Homer Stewart officiating. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
