Hoston James David, age 90, of Route 103 Box 232, Thorpe, WV, passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley. He will be sorely missed and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Born on March 2, 1921 in Blackwolfe, WV he was a son of the late Robert and Nannie May David. He had been a resident of Thorpe for 65 years and was a member of the Thorpe United Methodist Church. He was a retired maintenance foreman from US Steel with 40 years of service and was a Quartermaster with the US Navy serving in World War II. He was a member of the American Legion, UMWA, and the Welch Masonic Lodge AF&AM. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Survivors include: Wife of 71 years: Martha Ellen Morgan David of the home 1 son: James Randall David and wife Sherry of Thorpe 3 grandchildren: Terri David Cepelnik and husband Marty of Concord, NC and their children Brandon and Andrew Cepelnik Randall Wayne David and wife Becky of Concord, NC and children Brittany and Ericka David Hostena Marie Rose and husband Anthony of Salisbury, NC Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, November 14, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Destry Daniels officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell with military honors being performed by the US Navy Honor Guard. Friends may call on Monday from 12:00-2:00 PM at the funeral home. Online condolences will be accepted at www.cravens-shires.com Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell is serving the family.
