Howard Junior Burgess

Howard Junior Burgess, age 81, of Gary, and formerly of Bluefield, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at the McDowell County Nursing and Rehab Center in Gary after battling a long illness. Born on May 27, 1930 in Keystone, he was a son of Wornie and Edna Gullion Burgess. He had been a lifelong resident of Mercer and McDowell counties and was a retired welder. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ronnie Burgess; and two brothers, Reginald and Robert Burgess. Survivors include: 3 daughters: Pat Johnson of Stafford, VA Janet Brummell of Nebraska Sharon Woods of Bramwell 1 son: David Burgess of Ohio A multitude of grandchildren and great grandchildren 2 brothers: James A. Burgess of Covington, VA Roy M. Burgess of Bluefield 2 sisters: Martha Taylor of FL Rebecca Barber of King, NC Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, October 24, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Dr. Eddie Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell. Friends may call on Sunday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
