Herbert Porter Murphy

Herbert Porter Murphy, age 67, of Tazewell, VA and formerly from Abbs Valley, VA passed away on Monday, October 17, 2011. Born on February 25, 1944 in Tazewell Co., VA, he was a son of the late James Edgar Murphy and Grace Dove Murphy. Porter was a proud veteran of the US Air Force. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Murphy. He is survived by his: Wife: Diana Yates Murphy of the home Son: Richard Craig Murphy and wife Michelle of Princeton Daughter: Michele Lea Greenway and husband Brian of Granite Falls, NC 5 grandchildren: Brian, Emily, and Abigail Greenway of Granite Falls, NC Morgan and Dalton Murphy of Princeton 4 brothers: Curtis Murphy and Judy of Rock Ben Murphy and Laura of San Antonio, TX Bill Murphy and Sharon of Abbs Valley, VA Dave Murphy and Connie of Abbs Valley, VA 4 sisters: Edith Miller and Jimmy of Bluefield Doris Passan and Bill of Bluefield Sharon Purdie and Don of Big Stone Gap, VA Carol Spencer of Bluefield Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, October 21, 2011 at 3:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Patrick Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell where nephews will serve as pallbearers. The Air Force Honor Guard will conduct military honors.
