Mary Elizabeth Short

Mary Elizabeth White Short, age 82, of Old Bramwell Road, Bluefield, WV died on Monday, October 10, 2011 at Mercer Nursing and Rehab Center in Bluefield. Born on October 23, 1928 in Giatto, WV she was a daughter of the late Walter and Mae Davis White. She had lived in Mercer County for the past 30 years and was a member of the Mountaineer Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cletis Short; a son, Michael Antony Short; brothers, Danny White and Walter “Jake” White; and sisters, Louise Atwood and Marie White. Survivors: Daughters: Semet Torres of Tampa, FL Melissa Short of Midway Debra Popp and husband Daniel of Nemours Patricia Gedye of Davenport, IA Sons: Kevin Short of Midway Cletis Short of Davenport, IA Brothers: Walter Eugene “Chuck” White and wife Ruth of Princeton David “Chink” White and wife Lena of Princeton Clifford “Pete” White and wife Gae of Princeton Sisters: Betty Sue Lawrence and husband Sam of Princeton Bonnie Yopp of Hinton Grandchildren: Shelby Torres, Ryan Short, Danny Short, Angie, Jessica Gedye, Cody Popp, Travis Popp, Terry Allen, Laure, Mark and Brian Special Great-Granddaughter: “Presley” Libby’s wishes were to be cremated and a memorial service will be held on a later date. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Mercer Nursing and Rehab Center Activities Department in Bluefield, WV.
