BLUEFIELD, WV---Edward Lee Keen, Sr. age 84 of RT 4 Box 159 Bluefield, WV passed away Friday, October 7, 2011 at Carillion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, VA. Born January 4, 1927 in Shorts Gap, VA he was the son of the late William David Lewis Keen and Mary Cantrell Keen. Mr. Keen was a resident of the Brushfork area for the past 51 years and was a retired miner from US Steel #14 mine with 40 years’ service and a member of the UMWA. He was a Korean Conflict US Army Veteran and a member of the VFW. Mr. Keen was also a member of the Brushfork Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Albert Keen; two sisters, Ruby Stanley and Virginia Ball.

Two Great-grandsons, Dennis Keen and Isaac Keen of Bluefield, WV
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 10, 2011 at the Brushfork Baptist Church in Brushfork, WV with Rev. Jim Drake officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memory Gardens, Bluefield, VA; where the WV Honor Guard and the Mercer County Veterans Council will Conduct Military graveside rites.
Friends may call Sunday, October 9, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cravens- Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, WV and from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the Brushfork Baptist church.
Eddie Ray Keen, Dennis Keen, Ronnie Gibberson, Chris Reed, Larry Reed, Bob Bennington, and Denver Akers will serve as Pallbearers. Isaac Keen will serve as an Honorary Pallbearer.
