William Leslie “Bill” Belcher, Sr., age 75, of 41 Colt Street, Rock, WV, passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at a Bluefield hospital.
Born on September 8, 1936 in Kegley, he was a son of the late Clarence and Vivian Underwood Belcher. He was a member of the Wesley Chapel in Rock and was a graduate of Montcalm High School and Bluefield State College. He was a veteran of the US Army and served in Vietnam and Korea and retired with 20 years of service from the Army with the rank of Master Sergeant. During his military career, he was the recipient of the Bronze Star, 2 Meritorious Service Medals, 6 Good Conduct Medals, 3 Army Commendation Medals, a Vietnam Service Medal, and 7 Battle Stars. He was a member of the NCOA, American Legion, DAV, FFW, VVA, and was treasurer for the Korean War Veterans Association and the Military retired Group Vietnam #37. He enjoyed gardening and fishing. He had formerly worked for US Steel in Ohio for 3 years and the Forestry Service.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Belcher; and two sisters, Vera Earnest and Margaret Goodman.

Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 1:0 0PM at the Wesley Chapel Cemetery on Wright Mtn. in Rock with Rev. Kevin Farmer officiating. Burial will follow. The Mercer County Veterans Council and the WV Honor Guard will conduct military honors.
