Mary Lee Brooks

Mary Lee Brooks, age 84, of 821 Charlie Brown Road, Burnsville, NC and formerly of Falls Mills, VA and Florida, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at the Mountain Manor Nursing Home in Burnsville, NC. Born on April 26, 1927 in Falls Mills, VA, she was a daughter of the late Diamond C. and Lucille P. Gilpin. She was a Librarian for the State of Florida and was a member of the Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Brooks; a son, John T. Brooks; a sister, Betty Wahner; and a brother, Diamond C. Tabor. Survivors include: 1 son: Gregory K. Brooks of Burnsville, NC 5 grandchildren: Kimberly Brooks, John T. Brooks, II, Ashley Brooks, Kyle Brooks, and Karl Brooks 4 great grandchildren: Mariah Lamberson, Mariah Lamberson, and Eladio Lamberson, Jr. and Anthony John Brooks 2 step grandchildren: Chelsea and Kenneth 1 step great grandson: Colby Brothers: Robert C. Tabor of Bluefield Carl E. Tabor of Pilot Mountain, NC Several nieces and nephews Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 2:30 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Pastor Carlos Hess officiating. Burial will follow at the Tabor Cemetery in Falls Mills, VA where Carl Eugene Tabor, Tony Tabor, Robert Tabor, Gregory Tabor will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call on Saturday prior to the services, from 1:30-2:30 PM at the funeral home.
