Dorcas Virginia Burcham Bowles, age 81, of 370 Dry Fork Road, Rocky Gap, VA, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at the Brookshire Nursing Home in Hillsborough, NC. Born on May 14, 1930 in Wytheville, VA, she was a daughter of the late Edgar and Edna Akers Burcham. She was much more than a homemaker. She was a loving wife, nurturing Mother, and a dear friend. She was a member of the Dry Fork Baptist Church and the Women’s Missionary Society. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward L. Bowles Sr. Survivors include: 2 sons: Edward L. “Buddy” Bowles JR. and Sharon of Mooresville, NC Mitchell “Mickey” Bowles and Delores of Bluefield, VA Daughters: Brenda Hamby and Bill of Bluefield Barbara "Bobbi Kay" Dobbs and Lloyd of Virginia Beach, VA Gina Holshouser and Les of Hillsborough, NC Dedra "Dee-Dee" Williams and Chad of Hillsborough, NC She loved and cherished a total of 32 grand and great grandchildren. 2 Brothers: Eugene Burcham and Peggy of Thomasville, NC Clyde Burcham and Katherine of Thomasville, NC 1 Deceased: Claude Burcham of Charlottesville, VA 1 sister: Margaret Felty and Julian of Wytheville, VA A dear and special nephew Mark and Margaret "Maggie" Bowles of Ferrum, VA Special caregiver: Pat Pearson Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, September 30, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the Dry Fork Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Shortridge and Rev. Paul Baker officiating. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Bluewell. Friends may call at the church prior to services, from 12:00-1:00 PM.
