James Lindamood

James W. Lindamood 93, of Bluefield, West Virginia passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center in Bluefield, West Virginia. James was born on August 20, 1918 in Bluefield and was the son of the late Walker L. and Pearl Anderson Lindamood. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his infant sister Virginia Irene and one brother Frank D. Lindamood. Survivors Include: His wife of 59 years Phyllis L. Hypes Lindamood of Bluefield, West Virginia Three Sons: Larry J. Lindamood of Bluefield, West Virginia Ronald W. Lindamood and wife Charlene of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina Rev. Richard G. Lindamood and wife Carol of Wytheville, Virginia Grandchildren: Chris and wife Stephanie Lindamood of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina Chase Lindamood of Fuquay-Varina, NC Tracy Farmer of Princeton, WV Kelly and husband Adam Watts of Princeton, WV Joshua Lindamood of Blacksburg, VA Six Great- Grandchildren: James graduated from Beaver High School and served in the U.S.Navy during WWII as a crewman aboard the USS Aucilla A056, and served in the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters. He was at Okinawa when the war ended and was discharged in 1946. He returned to Bluefield and worked as a city Fireman from 1949 until1965. He was also a concrete contractor with his dad from 1965 until he retired from the WV Department of Highways as a Paving Inspector. He was an accomplished self-taught artist/oil painter and model airplane designer and builder. Funeral services for Mr. Lindamood will be conducted from the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel Friday September 23, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. with the Dr. Robert “Bob” Boozer officiating. Serving the family as pallbearers will be members of the family and friends. Entombment will follow at the Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum where Military Cryptside services will be conducted by the West Virginia Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday September 23, 2011 from 1:00 P.M. until time of services.
