Willie “Joe” Comer, beloved husband and father, age 80, of PO Box 11, Montcalm, passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. Born on October 24, 1930 in Big Four, he was a son of the late John and Viney Lambert Comer. He had been a resident of Mercer County for 48 years and attended the Assembly of God. He was a retired coal miner with 42 years of service and he retired from Consol where he worked at Crane Creek and Jenkinjones. He was a member of the UMWA and was a veteran of the US Army and served during the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Patrick Taylor. Survivors include: Wife: Senna Mae Cochran Comer of the home Son: Joseph Michael Comer and Bridgett of Montcalm 3 daughters: Sandra Odle and Timothy of Bluefield Willie Matinpour of Montcalm Frances Taylor and Raymond of Bluefield Grandsons: Joseph and Brandon Comer and Shannon Taylor 2 granddaughters: Ameneh Sloane and Halena Taylor 1 great grandson: Aiden Green 3 brothers: Johnny Comer of OK Garrett Comer of Eckman Raymond Comer of Glenwood 2 sisters: Lillie Comer of KY Bessie Comer of Glenwood Special friends: Vencil and Jeanette Perkins of Montcalm Malita Murphy of Princeton Graveside services will be conducted on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell with Rev. Ryan Lawrence officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Military honors will be performed by the WV Honor Guard and the Mercer County Veterans Council.
