Edward Philip Purdy, age 80, of Rt. 2 Box 133-B, Rock, WV (McComas) died on Friday September 9, 2011 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center.
Born on July 5, 1931 in McComas, he was a son of the late Phillip and Trana Bailey Purdy. He was a graduate of Montcalm High School and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the US Army’s 82nd Airborne Division. He was retired from Ford Motor Company with 30 years of service. He had lived in McComas for the past 25 years.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 12, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. James Milam officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Military Graveside Honors will be performed by the West Virginia Honor Guard. A motorcycle escort will be provided by the Patriot Guard Riders. Serving as pallbearers will be his sons as well as Johnny Tooley, and Tommy Gilbert.
Friends may call on Monday afternoon from 12:00 – 2:00 PM prior to the service.
