ROCK, WV---Fred “Freddie” William Horton, age 58, of RT 2 Box 483 (Duhring) Rock, WV passed away Sunday, August 28, 2011 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Born December 9, 1952 at Goodwill, WV he was the son of Juanita Margaret Carver Horton of During, WV and the late John Horton, Sr. Mr. Horton was a lifelong resident of Durhing and was a retired coal miner. He was the former owner and operator of H&A Coal Company and Fred’s Mining Repairs.

Mother, Juanita Margaret Carver Horton of Duhring
One son, Jeff Horton and wife Amannda of Bluefield, VA
One daughter, Nicole Ballard and husband Adam of Lerona, WV
Two brothers, Willard Horton and wife Elsie of Duhring, WV
Barry Horton and wife Gail of Duhring, WV
Two Grandchildren, Benjamin and Christian
Mother-in-law, Tessie More of Maple Acres
Special sister-in-law, Susan Akers of Peterstown, WV
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell, WV with Rev. Mike Ballard officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park Bluewell, WV.
Friends may call Tuesday, August 30, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Adam Ballard, Jeff Horton, Barry Horton, Willard Horton, Jason Horton, and Mike Kosinar.
