Sallie Ruth Davis

Sallie Ruth Davis, age 86, of 121 Ben Bolt Avenue, Tazewell, Virginia, formerly of Anawalt , died on Friday August 26, 2011 at Tazewell Community Hospital. Born on October 20, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Cephas “Pete” Smith and Florence Sadler Smith. She had been a lifelong resident of Anawalt and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Jenkinjones. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Wiley Davis; a sister, Dorothy Davis; and 2 brothers, Robert and Ray Smith. Survivors: Son: James Davis of Hinton Step-Children: Pat and Ray Mahaffey of Princeton Mack and Bonnie Davis of Muritta, CA Sam and Marilyn Davis of Desert Hot Springs, CA Sister: Eula “Sissy” Ahrens and husband Louis of El Paso, TX Niece: Denise Underwood and husband Sam of Bluefield, WV Sister-in-laws, Ailene Davis of Anawalt, WV Mae Davis of Princeton, WV Brother-in-law, George Lee Davis of Marion, VA Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren Funeral service will be held on Monday, August 29, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. David Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton were friends and family will be serving as pallbearers.
