Margaret Marie Saddler

February 25, 1930 — August 14, 2011

Margaret Marie Bailey Phillips Saddler from Rt. 2 Box 396, Bluefield, West Virginia graced heaven’s gates on August 14, 2011 in her caretakers Jerry Hick gracious care . Margaret was the ninth child of Alvin R. and Icie M. (Shrewsbury) Bailey. Margaret was born on February 25, 1930 on Crumpler Mountain, McDowell County, West Virginia. Crumpler Elementary provided education for Margaret through the 8th grade. At age fourteen Margaret devoted her life to her family and the Lord being baptized on Pentical Creek in her late teens Margaret traveled to the farming country on Clearfield County Penn. to visit a first cousin, Ozie and Tessie (Bailey) Farley. While in Penn, Margaret met and married Clair Phillips on Christmas Day in 1946, Clair was a farm hand and Margaret kept house which was a converted chicken coop. Early in their marriage they moved to West Virginia where Clair would work for the Ashland Coal Company located in Ashland WV, McDowell County and Margaret would be a stay at home Mother and Housewife. Margaret and Clair were blessed with four children Nathan 1950-1974, Tim 1950, Naomi 1958, and Mark 1960-2007. Margaret and Clair divorced in 1979 and Margaret moved to Bluefield, West Virginia where she resided the remainder of her life. In 1987 Margaret married Elmer Saddler, a Christian man she met in her church group. In her year of life Margaret made many friends, sharing what she had with people in need. Margaret was a mountain woman, “No one could take the mountains out of the woman or the woman out of the mountains.” Proceeding in death, parents Alvin 1896/1971 and Icie 1895/1985 Shrewsbury Bailey, sons Nathan 1950/1974 and Mark 1960/2007, ex husband and father of her children Clair Phillips 1925/1994, husband Elmer Saddler 1910/1997, great granddaughter Kayli 1995/1995, , sister and brother in laws Clyde 1906/1973 and Maxie Bailey Conner 1914/1999, Randolph F Faudree 1916-2010. Winnie Bailey “Beggs” Faudree 1916/2006, Leslie 1915/2000 and Felda Bailey Angle1918/2002, Guy 1906/1996 and Elizabeth Bailey Rorrer, 1922/2005, Martin 1921/2007 and Pearly Bailey Martin1928/1996, brother in laws, Lewis Mitchem 1924/1993 John Mitchell and Willie Beggs, 1916/1973, Everett Beggs1934-2010 sister in laws, Peggy Johnson Bailey 1946/2004, Ruth (Webb) Bailey 1919-2000 brothers Ernest Bailey 1946/1946, Lewis Bailey Joe T 19– Brother Joe T Bailey 1920-1999. Margaret is survived by son Tim and Peggy Phillips Germanton, NC, daughter Charlie and Naomi Lagasse, Stanchfield, MN, Grandsons, Travis Lagasse, Cloquet , MN, Drake Lagasse, Stanchfield, MN, Paul and Ammie Phillips Pocahoutas, VA, Chris Phillips Germanton, NC, Nathan Boling and Brandy Martin from St. Alban, WV., granddaughters, Michelle and William Whittiker, Ronoke VA, Rhoda and Wm. Melton, Germanton, NC, Saoncyrae and Joshua Neville Minneapolis, MN, Sharla Lagasse Cambridge, MN. Sisters, Barbara Beggs Princton, WV, Lousia Mitchem NC, brothers, Lawrence and Mildred Webb Bailey Fl, Esther Bailey WV, Mack and Nancy Bailey Herbron, OH, great grand children Kiesten Phillips, Siearra Phillips, Nathan Phillips, Issac Boling, Zachary Boling, Wm Melton, Joe Melton, Gracyln Melton, and Baby Girl Josey Phillips. Caretaker, Jerry Hicks. A visitation for Margaret will be held at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, West Virginia on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, West Virginia with the Rev. Ron Phillips officiating the service. Margaret will rest in peace at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, West Virginia by the dear husband Elmer Saddler. Margaret will rest in peace in Roselawn Cemetery in Princeton West Virginia by her dear husband Elmer Saddler.Harry Meadows, Mark Clindenton, William Melton, Jerry Hicks, Paul Phillips, Chris Phillips will serve as pallbearers.
