Kenneth Ray McVey

Kenneth Ray McVey, age 75, of 199 Perdue Hollow Road, Bluefield, WV, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2011 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. Born on October 30, 1935 in Switchback, he was a son of the late Thomas R. and Sylvia DeBusk McVey. He had been a resident of Brushfork for 40 years and was a member of the Falls Mills Christian Church. He served in the Army and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was an avid baseball fan who cheered for the Atlanta Braves. He was retired from CONSOL as a heavy equipment operator for surface mining and was a member of the UMWA local 6025. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Leonard McVey. Survivors include: Wife of 53 years: Janet Farrington McVey of the home 2 sons: Tim McVey and Jennifer Giese of Green Bay, WI Jerry McVey and Martha of Falls Mills, VA 2 granddaughters: Kristin and Kaitlin McVey Brother: Roger McVey and Louise of Falls Mills, VA Sister in law: Beverly McVey of Duhring Nephew: John McVey Nieces: Amy McVey, Amanda McVey and Tina Carroll Special Friends: Judy and Chester Sword and Glen and Phyllis Ruble. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 11:00AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Minsiter Rick Mathena officiating. Entombment will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Bluefield, VA where military honors will be performed by the WV Honor Guard. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
