Robert Poore, age 90, of 1050 Cedarview Drive, King, NC, formerly of Sandlick and Bluefield, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at his residence. Born on January 18, 1921 in Weyanoke, West Virginia, he was a son of the late Felix and Alice Gross Poore. He had been a resident of King for 6 ½ years and was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith. He was a retired coal miner from McComas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha (Lusk) Poore; sons, Garney Lusk, Everett Taylor, and Michael Poore; daughter, Lorraine Young; brothers, Eli and Luther Poore; Sisters, Mary Poore, Lonnie Church, Hattie Gillenwater, and Ethel Shultz. He was the last surviving sibling of his immediate family. Survivors include: 6 sons: Junior Taylor and wife Rosie of Sandlick James Poore and wife Rose of Fayetteville, NC Roger Poore and wife Sue of Princeton Fairley Poore and wife Lee of Clinton, MD Steve Poore and wife Janice of King, NC Bill Tooley and wife Evelyn of Princeton 5 daughters: Lula Jones of Sandlick Leona Shrewsbury and husband Arnold of Cottage City, Maryland Edna Lynch of Bluewell Judy Roberts and husband Larry of Sandlick Wanda Blevins and husband Jeff of King, NC 54 grandchildren and 73 great grandchildren Funeral service will be conducted on Monday, June 20, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Larry Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell with grandsons serving as pallbearers. Friends may call on Sunday from 6-8PM at the funeral home.
