Another angel earned her wings on Tuesday, June 14, 2011. Nellie Evelyn Hatfield Sparks King, age 73, of Princeton Health Care and formerly of Gardenia Way, Princeton, passed away after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease at Princeton Health Care.
Born on April 20, 1938 in Wyoming County, WV, she was a daughter of the late Jay and Edna Marie Johnston Hatfield. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Church of the Brethren on Dan Hale Reservoir Road in Princeton. She had been a resident of Princeton for 50 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Billy Ray Sparks; her second husband, who was the apple of her eye, Benjamin Franklin King; a son, James King; daughter, Sybil Lambert; grandson, Shawn Dunn, a great grandson, Austin Dunn; sister, Linda Lester; and a brother in law, Clarence (Flop) Lester.

Laken Sparks, Hunter Kade, and Marley Kade.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Minister Tony Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where Ben Lambert, Larry Cook, Sr., Larry Cook, Jr., Joe Sparks, Cory Byrd, and Kevin Poff will serve as pallbearers. Paul Combs and Richard Cox will serve as honorary pallbearer.
Friends may call on Thursday from 1:00-2:00 PM at the funeral home.
