James David (J .D.) Warburton (83) of Route 3 (Lorton Lick Road), Bluewell, West
Virginia departed this world on May 20, 2011 to be with his heavenly father and beautiful
wife of over 62 years, Hazel.
He was born December 30, 1927 in Pulaski Virginia to Charles Nimrod and Sarah Janet
Warburton. He faithfully attended Bluewell United Methodist Church, which he enjoyed
immensely, until his illness no longer permitted him. J. D. retired after 43 years service
to the Norfolk and Southern Railroad. His hobbies were masonry and carpentry. He
used these hobbies continuously helping his family and friends. A godly man, he loved
his family, all people, and (most of all) his God.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Warburton and mother, Sarah Janet
Warburton, seven brothers: Clifford, Raymond, Donald, Paul, Roy Leon, Bobby and
Ronald Warburton, two sisters: Charlotte Harrison and Louise Bays and one son-in-law,
David R. Woodard.
He is survived by five children: Patricia Woodard-Synan (Russell) of Pocahontas,
Virginia, Charles Allen Warburton (June) of Springville, Virginia, Barbara Jean Webb
(Fred) of Bluewell, West Virginia, Karen Sue Alexander (Donald) of Fort Covington,
New York, and James Michael Warburton (Patty) of Rock, West Virginia, one brother,
Allen Delano Warburton of Springville, Virginia, special nieces, Barbara Krivacs of
Westland, Michigan and Linda Saunders of High Point, North Carolina; twelve grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at 1:00 pm at the
Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Stephen Rector officiating.
Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Virginia where Benjamin
Alexander, Al Krivacs, Scot Krivacs, Todd Krivacs, Steve Webb, Chris Woodard and
David Woodard will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call on Monday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
