Ruth Ellen Patrick, age 82, of Ryan Village Apartments, Princeton, W.Va., died on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at the home of her daughter, Dorothy Mitchem in Bluewell. Born on June 5, 1928 in Yards, Va., she was a daughter of the late Charles George and Nannie Fowler Patrick. She had lived at Glenwood for the past 10 years and attended the Ridgeview Church of God in Lashmeet. She was a former employee at Bluefield State College. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Norman Patrick; granddaughters, Michelle and Melissa Mitchem; brothers, Jesse Patrick, Henry Patrick, and Richard Patrick; and sister, Elsie Hall.
Survivors: Son, Eugene Patrick and wife Judy of Bluefield, Va.; daughters, Dorothy Mitchem and husband Fairly of Bluewell, Janice Nipper and husband Dinnie of Bluefield, Va.; sisters, Mary Jennings of Gordonsville, Va., Helen Beavers of Bluewell, W.Va., Lillie Wilson of Peterstown, W.Va.; grandchildren, Theresa Phillips of Bluewell, Tony Patrick of Huntington, Shawn Patrick of Detroit, Mich., Shannon Patrick of Richmond, Va., Christopher Patrick of Roanoke, Texas, Sherri Kelly of Bluefield, Va., Stephanie Nipper of Peterstown, W.Va., Cheryl Shinault of Yards, Va., Kristen Nipper of Charlottesville, Va., and Andy Nipper of Bluefield, Va.; great-grandchildren, Jessica Phillips, Kodie, Arianna, Carson, and Caiden Patrick, Conner Kelly, and Shannon, Chris, and Michael Shinault.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 20, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with the Reverend L.A. Farmer officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Va. Her grandsons will be serving as pallbearers. Friends may call on Friday afternoon from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
