Fred Ray Nelson, age 68, of Princeton, slipped away to be with our Lord late in the evening of May 7, 2011 at his home after a long illness with family and friends by his side. He was the son of the late Doak Henry and Grace Sparks Nelson. He had been a resident of Mercer County for most of his life and was a member of the Lorton Lick Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the US Army and served in 1960-1964 in Vietnam. He was a truck driver and had formerly worked for Cimarron Coach. In addition by his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Emory Nelson; and two grandchildren, Kenneth Allan Clyburn and Stephen Ray Clyburn. Survivors include: Wife of 27 years: Jean Hott Nelson of the home Sons: Fred Ray Clyburn of Peterstown Shane Nelson and companion of Jennifer of Lorton, VA 1 brother: Beryl Nelson and wife Sue of Alderson Sisters: Ruby Hankins of Princeton Minnie Moore of Radford, VA Barbara Moore and husband David of Dexter, KY Sister in law: Sue of Alderson, WV 4 grandchildren: Nicholas Clyburn, Alyssa Clyburn, Jacob Nelson, Hutson. Special Friends: Mary Quizenbeury and the Hospice, for the excellent care and love they showed him daily. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at 7:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell Pastors Eugene Hazelwood and Derrick Cowan officiating with music by Kelly Lyle. Friends may call on Tuesday from 6-8PM at the funeral home. Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell with military honors being performed by the WV Honor Guard and family serving as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home on Wednesday at 10:30AM.
