Clifford Arthur Vance

PRINCETON, WV- Clifford Arthur Vance, age 90, of 182 Carr, Princeton, WV, passed away Sunday April 24, 2011 at his home. Born February 25, 1921 in Iaeger, WV, he was a son of the late Arthur and Lula Murphy Vance. Mr. Vance was a loving husband, father, and a good Christian man and was baptized on Easter Sunday night in 1981 and was a member of the Lorton Lick Baptist Church. He was retired from the Norfolk and Western Railroad where he was a proud Union member of the railroad. Mr. Vance was also a member of the Bailey Masonic Lodge #137 A.F. and A.M. of Montcalm, WV. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, son-in-law, and a daughter-in-law. Survivors include his wife of 68 years whom he married in Iaeger, WV; Evelyn Marie Vance of the home, two sons; Tom Vance and wife Carol of Tecumseh, MI, and Ron Vance of Marion, VA, a daughter; Kathy Foster and husband Michael of Hubert, NC, seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday April 26, 2011 at 11:30 A.M. from the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Shawn Bragg officiating. Burial will follow at the Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery where Masonic Graveside Rites will be preformed. Serving the family as Honorary Pallbearers will be Troy Vance, Shawn Vance, Jacob Christman, Lloyd Hall, Jim Barrett, Mike Ball, Don Taylor, and Aubrey Workman.
