Jarvis Larry “JL” King, age 79, of Route 5 Box 410 (Pinnacle View Road), Bluefield, WV, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at the GlenWood Park Retirement Village. Born on March 14, 1932 in McComas, he was a son of the late Dave and Maggie Shrewsbury King. He had been a resident of Bluefield for 58 years and formerly worked for the Griffin Pie Company and King’s Tire. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the US Air Force. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Anna Mae Barlow; and three brothers, Cecil King, Jackie King, William David King. Survivors include: 2 brothers: Sam King of Princeton Randolph King of Princeton 1 sister: Lorraine Helmandollar and husband Melvin “Red” of Green Valley Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at 3:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Jim Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial park in Bluewell where Frank Beavers, Allen Powers, Randy King, Matt King, Ed King, and Brian Sizemore will serve as pallbearers. Military honors will be conducted by the Mercer County Veterans Council. Friends may call on Sunday from 2:00-3:00 PM at the funeral home.
