Sweet spirit, gentle heart… Remembering all the times that you’ve brought joy to the world. Margaret Mae Murphy, age 83, of 212 Locust Street, Bluefield, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at the residence of her daughter in Charlottesville, VA. Born on October 2, 1927 in Algoma, she was a daughter of the late Philip and Bessie Garrett Mason. She had been a lifelong resident Bluefield for 65 years and was a member the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bluefield. She was a member of the Women’s of the Moose and was an avid bowler where she bowled on several leagues. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Reaford Patrick Murphy, four sisters, Vesta Slover, Rose Anderson, Mary Liddle, and Vickie Rholfe. Survivors include: Daughter: Sherri Beavers and Steven of Charlottesville, VA 2 grandchildren: Kelly and Patrick Shott 1 step grandchild: Jody Beavers 1 great grandchild: Lauren Shotwell 1 brother: Nick Mason of Northfork, WV Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Father Paul Wharton officiating. Burial will follow with Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell with grandsons, Louis Ramono, Mark Austin, and Joseph Mutter serving as pallbearers. Friends may call on Friday from 6-8PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont; Attn: West Team; 675 Peter Jefferson Parkway; Suite 300, Charlottesville, VA 22911.
