Mazie Lee Burks

BLUEFIELD, WV--- Mazie Lee Burks, age 91, of Bluefield, WV Passed away Saturday, March 12, 2011 at her residence. Romans 10:13, For whosever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Born February 28, 1920 at North Wilkesboro, NC she was the daughter of the late Wint and Maude Shumate Hall. She had been a resident of Tabor Road for the past 13 years with her daughter, Dixie and son-in-law Wiley. She was a member of the Belcher Mt. Baptist Church for 50 years. She loved her church and church family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Willard S. Burks in July 2000; one brother, Woodrow Hall; Two sisters, Mabel Byrd and Elsie Watkins. Survivors include, Six daughters, Frances Watkins, Dixie Belcher, Brenda Watkins, all of Bluefield; Betty Renner of Chattanooga, TN, Patty Dalton of Crumpler, WV, and Kathy Harris of Athens, WV, and more like a son than a son-in-law, Wiley Belcher Fourteen grandchildren; thirty five, Great-grandchildren; and seven, Great-great grandchildren Three sisters, Ruth Dean of Hillsboro, WV; Irene Anderson and Claudine Mitchem of Bluefield, WV As well as several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Special caregivers Dr. William Bird of Bluestone Health Clinic and the Council on aging and all Home Care and their staff. Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell, WV with Rev. Bill Belcher and Rev. Lonnie Mullins, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Belcher Mountain Cemetery at Maitland, WV Friends may call the funeral home Tuesday, March 15, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. until time of services at 2:30 p.m. Pallbearers will be her Grandsons, William Lightfoot, Jeffery Watkins, Jamie Renner, Michael Belcher, Jodie Dalton, Johnny Dalton, Timothy Watkins, and Adam Harris.
