Mack Phelps

Mack Phelps, Sr., age 86, of Route 4 Box 8, Bluefield, WV, passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at his home. Born on June 19, 1924 in Vanlier, KY, he was a son of the late John and Bell Phelps. He had been a resident of Mercer County for 40 years and was a retired coal mine electrician with 38 ½ years of service. He was a veteran of the US Army and served in Korea. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Robert a Castle Phelps. Survivors include: 4 sons: Woodrow Phelps of Bluefield Eric Drew Phelps of Burlington, NC Mack Phelps, Jr. of Bluefield Danny Lee Phelps of the home 1 daughter: Patricia A. Frazier of Bluefield Adopted son: Eugene Phelps of Radford, VA 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, February 18, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Curtis Honaker officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell where Jeffrey Frazier, Danny Phelps, Jr., Darrell Blackwell, Bill Myers, Bob Myers, and Gene Mash will serve as pallbearers.
