Mary Geneva Barnett Martin, 90, of Wilmington, NC died Saturday January 29, 2011 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Life Care Center.
She was born in War, WV on November 5, 1920, daughter of the late Willard Smith and Belle Reed Smith and was preceded in death by her husband Alvah Hampton Martin.
Geneva was a postmaster with twenty-five years of service in Yukon, WV. After retiring, she worked with her husband in the family business, Martin Furniture. She was past president of the Postmasters Association and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in War, WV.
Surviving are two daughters Marsha Williams and husband Bruce of Wilmington and Patricia Nuckols of Danville, VA; three grandchildren, Chris Foster and wife Connie, Andrea Harris and husband Bud and Bryan Nuckols; great grandchildren, Zachary Foster and Allison Foster.
A graveside service will be held Thursday February 3, 2011 at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Bluefield, WV at 11:00 AM with Rev. James Milam officiating.
Friends may call on Thursday from 10:00-10:45 AM at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell.
