Dorothy "Phyllis" Graham

Dorothy “Phyllis” Williams Graham, age 75, of Davidson Mobile Home Park in Brushfork, passed away at home with her family on Friday, January 28, 2011. Born on October 22, 1935 in Boissevain, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late John Thomas and Myrtle Groseclose Hardy. She was raised by her grandparents, the late Sarah and Burton Groseclose. She had lived in Brushfork for the past 15 years and had formerly worked for many years at the Quick Stop in Bluewell and the Swiss Burger. She enjoyed her work and meeting people. She retired in 1996. She was of the Pentecostal Holiness Faith. She raised her children with love and compassion and had a special bond with her children seeing them through the toughest of times. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She especially enjoyed visits from her great-grandchildren. She lived a full life and will look over us until we meet again. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry “Buck” Williams; a daughter, Rhonda Sue Graham in 1976; a sister, Betty Thompson; brothers, Burton Hardy and Clinton Hardy; aunts, Edith Lewis and Cleo Lusk who were like her sisters; and Evelyn Minnix. Survivors include her children and grandchildren; daughter Linda Perkins of Athens and her children Angie, Karie Sue, Johnny and Leslie; daughter, Barbara Dunn of Montcalm and children Shelia, Joni and Lonnie, Jr.; son, Herbert and Connie Williams of Old Bramwell Road and children, Michael and Clayton; son, Randy Williams of Bluewell and son Brandon; daughter, Kathy and Danny Faulkner of Bluewell and children, Shawn, Jeremy, Kristie and Danielle; daughter Terry White of Bluefield and children Chris, Candy and Travis; son, David Williams of Brushfork; daughter, Audrey and Chris Sluss of Brushfork and her son Aaron Bell, with whom she made her home and grandson she had a special bond with; daughter , Michelle and Clarence Fleeman and her children, Kori and Tyler; daughter Tonya Williams and children, Ashley, Shantay and Eddie. She had 20 great-grandchildren with one on the way. She is also survived by her life companion for more than 30 years, Andrew “Booty” Bailey of Duhring; a cousin with whom she was raised, Ray Dalton of Roanoke, VA; sisters, Shelby Yost of Sandusky, Ohio and Sue Palmo of Phoenix, Arizona; special friend, Grace Eller of Brushfork; and sister-in-law Janice Williams of Tazewell. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 31, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with her cousin, Rev. Mickey Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA. Grandsons will honor her as pallbearers. Serving will be Johnny Perkins, Lonnie Dunn, Jr., Michael & Clayton Williams, Brandon Williams, Shawn & Jeremy Faulkner, Chris Williams, Travis Hylton, Aaron Bell, Tyler Myers, and Edie Sparks. Friends may call on Sunday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. The family may be reached at the home of her daughter, Audrey Sluss, Perdue Hollow Road, Bluefield.
