Samuel K. Fain, age 52, of Bluefield, WV, formerly of Roderfield, passed away on December 30, 2010 at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, VA after battling a severe lung disease. Born on September 25, 1958, he was a son of Virginia Dalton Fain Potter of Statesville, NC and the late Samuel E. Fain. Samuel worked as a coal miner in McDowell County for many years. He was a devoted father, brother, son, and a proud grandfather. He loved the outdoors and spending time with his family. His kindness and willingness to always help others will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him and loved him. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Howard and Minnie Fain; maternal grandparents, Hubert and Lorene Dalton; 2 brothers, Duane and Kirby Fain; and 2 nephews, Jeremy Fain and Mark Stone. Survivors: Mother: Virginia Dalton Fain Potter of Statesville, NC Son: Kenneth Fain and wife Farrah of Raleigh, NC Daughter: Jacqueline Fain Jones and husband Timmy of Bluefield, WV Grandchildren: Hunter and Jordan Jones of Bluefield, WV Brother: Mike Fain and wife Alice of Premier, WV Sisters: Diane Rodliff and husband Tommy of Bradshaw Mountain Kim Lester and husband Clarence of Bradshaw Mountain Crystal Yount and husband Harold of Statesville, NC Several nieces and nephews Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Rick Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell where pallbearers will be Eric and Kurt Lester, Nicholas Yount, Josh Fain, Delbert Charles, and Kevin Jones. Friends may call on Monday evening from 6-8 PM at the Funeral Home. The family asks that in Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Samuel Fain Memorial Fund.
