Dr. Donald Lee Fogus of 237 Sunny Drive, Princeton, WV passed away died on Friday, December 31, 2010 at 4:10 PM at Princeton Community Hospital. He was born on January 25, 1931 in White Sulphur Springs to the late Henry Kay and Mary Madeline Bennett Fogus. He was the oldest of 10 children. He graduated from White Sulphur High School in White Sulphur Springs. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served 2 years stationed in France. He graduated with a degree in Forestry from WVU and received his Ph. D. in Adult Education from NC State in 1972. He organized the two-year technical program training forest technicians at Glenville State College. He was President of the West Virginia Forestry Association for several years. He was a member and President of the National Council of Forestry Association Executives and a member of the National Professional Forestry Association. He was the Community Economic Development Director in Ohio and received accommodation from the Governor of Ohio in June of 1977 for his work with generating funding for the Noble County Correctional Facility and for seeing to fruition the completion of the facility. He was named Forester of the Year in 1977. He retired from Ohio State University in 1997. He was the director of the Bluefield Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Princeton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Freda Dare Mondy Survivors: Wife: Barbara Bowman Fogus of the home. Daughters from a previous marriage: Donna Weaver and Mary Katherine Fogus of Richmond, VA and Brenda Elaine Showalter of Elkton, VA. Step-Son: Dr. Bradley Martin of Akron OH Grandson: Mackenzie Nelson Weaver Granddaughter: Kara Lauren Weaver Step-Granddaughters: Amie Martin and Laura Turner Step-Great-Grandson: Ari Dutta Siblings: Conald Winfred Fogus, Kenneth Franklin Fogus and wife Isabelle, Alice Mae Knight and husband Willie, Lillian Antoinette “Netsy” Richardson and husband Edward, Henry Kay Fogus, Jr. and wife Sara, Steven Douglas Fogus and wife Ethel, Gary Hamilton Fogus and wife Sue, and Reta Joan Townley and husband Randy. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 3, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Dr. David Dockery and Dr. James Boyd officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton with his family and friends serving as pallbearers. Friends may call on Monday from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM at the funeral home prior to the service. The family asks that memorial donation be made to the First Baptist Church in Princeton, 1116 Mercer Street, Princeton, WV 24740.
