David Lee Blankenship

David Lee Blankenship, 46 of 1119 Old Bramwell Rd, passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at his home. Born in Bluefield WV on May 9, 1964, he was a son of Ernest Blankenship and Stepmother Brenda Blankenship of Bluefield, and son of Shirley Harless Leffel of Scottsville Va. He had been a resident of Bluefield for the last 12 years after living in Alaska for 15 years. He was a graduate of Alaska Jr. College and was of the Baptist faith. He was the primary caregiver for his father the last 6 years. On this cold December day David is now sharing his love of music, as he plays his Guitar and sings with the angles, as he enters through the Golden Gates of Heaven, where all are kneeling at Gods feet. David will not only be missed by his family that he loved dearly, but by many friends who he made smile as he warmed their hearts, through his passion for music. He was preceded in death by his baby brother Michael D. Blankenship. Survivors include: Survived by two sons: Christopher Blankenship of Guthrie OK, and Tyler Blankenship of NY. Brother: William “Billy” Leffel of Richmond VA. Sisters: Katherine Vaughn of Scottsville VA. Darlene Gilley of Bluefield VA. Diana Leffel of Scottsville VA. Melissa Blankenship of Bluefield VA. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, December 27, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Pastor David Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell where Ray Gentle, Ronnie Cruise, C.J. Casey, Mark McGlothlin, Danny Plelps, Matt Neal, Wayne Roland will serve as pallbearers. Family will receive friends on Sunday, December 26th 2010 between 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
