Blonnie Kyle Mitchem

Blonnie Kyle Mitchem, age 77, of Kirby Addition Road, Princeton, WV, formerly of Crumpler, passed away on Monday, December 20, 2010 at Princeton Community Hospital surrounded by his family. Born on January 21, 1933 in Beartown, WV, he was a son of the late Samuel Preston and Cloah Annie Bailey Mitchem. Blonnie was a retired coal miner with 43 years of service. He worked for United Pocahontas Coal Company in Crumpler and was a UMWA member. He enjoyed working in his yard and putting up his Christmas decorations. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Noble Mitchem, Cobert Mitchem, and Cledis Mitchem; and sisters, Edith Nichols, Velvie White, Vivian Reed, Vallie Combs, and Faye Reed. He will be greatly missed by: His wife of 54 years: Bertha Havens Mitchem of the home His only daughter: Debbie Minnix and husband Bob of Princeton, WV His only grandson and his pride and joy: Bobby “Bo” Minnix, Jr. and wife Jessica of Huntington, WV His brother: Harry Mitchem and wife Claudine of Brushfork, WV His sisters: Ivy Mills of Semmes, AL Necy Mitchem of Bluewell, WV He was also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Michael Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Pallbearers will be Danny Mitchem, Russell Mitchem, Rodney Mitchem, Jeff Havens, Smokey Havens, and Scotty Havens. Honorary pallbearers will be Craig and David Havens. Friends may call on Wednesday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. The family is accepting online condolences at www.cravens-shires.com.
