Joanna Bignotti Brooks, age 68, of 11-B Woodcrest Addition, Princeton, WV, and formerly of Welch, passed away on Tuesday, June 1, 2010, at Princeton Community Hospital. Born on March 20, 1942, in Capels, WV, she was a daughter of the late Pete John and Caterina Dallamontta Bignotti. She had lived in Princeton since 1965 and was a 1960 graduate of Welch High School. She was of the Catholic faith. She was a lab tech for Princeton Community Hospital and retired from LabCorp in Princeton in 2004. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Bignotti; a brother, Frank Bignotti; brother-in-laws, Bob Stover, I. Tunis Corbell, Jr., and J. Donnie Brooks; sister-in-law, Dorothy Brooks Daugherty; nephew, Michael and a great nephew, David; and father-and mother-in-law, John R. and Della Verner Brooks. Survivors include: Husband of 45 years: Robert L. Brooks of the home 2 brothers: Matthew Bignotti and Maxine of Largo, FL Pete Bignotti and Gudrun of Montclair, VA Sisters: Dina Corbell of Garden Grove, CA Frances Stover of Brooksville, FL Sylvia Hutchison and Jack of Lake Havasu City, AZ Twin sister: Wanda Simons and George of Bluefield, VA Brother-in-law: Jim Daugherty of Bluefield, VA Sisters-in-law: Lynn Brooks Davis and Mike of Charleston Donna Brooks of Winston-Salem, NC A host of nieces and nephews Joanna will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends as kind, warm, compassionate, and always very caring. Her heart was not only for humankind but the many pets that had brought so much joy to her life. She also had a great love for nature and this wonderful world our Savior has provided. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, June 4, 2010, at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, WV, with Father Paul Wharton officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where Scott E. Simons, Dr. George R. Simons, Rick Lemon, Jim Daugherty, Pete Bignotti, and Pete John Bignotti will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call on Friday from 9:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home. Online condolences will be accepted at www.cravens-shires.com Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell is serving the family.
