Linda Sparks Hurst Bluefield, West Virginia – Linda Sparks Hurst, (67), of Route 5 Box 426 (Bluewell), Bluefield, WV, passed into eternal peace on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 with her family by her side.
Born August 16, 1943- 5th child of Rufus and Edith Perkins Sparks. She was predeceased by her brother Rufus Blane Sparks, and her sister Dana Wilson. Graduated from Beaver High School in 1961 and married Charles Hurst in August 1962. First child (Sandra) was born October 1963 and son (Charlie) in July 1965. Linda’s greatest passion was her family. She cherished her time with her grandchildren Sarah and Nick. Linda was a kind and loving person who always thought of others first. She will always be remembered for her warm eyes and beautiful smile. She was the owner and manager of Hardware Charlie’s in Bluewell for 26 years and was a member of the Princeton First Church of the Nazarene.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Charles Hurst of Bluefield, West Virginia, and two children, Sandra Lynn Hurst of Harker Heights, Texas, and Charlie Hurst, Jr. of Bluefield, West Virginia. Also survived by her grandchildren Nick Hurst of Roanoke, Virginia and Sarah Michelle Vaught of Austin, Texas. Surviving siblings are Roger Sparks, Sr. of Peckville, Pennsylvania, Norma Sparks Marus of Chesapeake, Virginia, and Douglas Sparks, Sr. of Greensboro, North Carolina.
The family is deeply grateful for the support and care received from close friends Ellen Keene, Bruce and Sue Runyon, Beverly Wellman, and special friend Wendy Wellman for her thoughtfulness and dedication while keeping our loved one safe and comfortable in her time of need.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, May 29, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Jeff Beckett officiating. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Bluewell with friends serving as pallbearers.
Friends may call on Friday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
