Jesse Eugene “Gene” Rose, age 69, of Route 2 Box 250-A, Rock, WV, passed away on Friday, May 28, 2010 at a Bluefield hospital.
Born on February 24, 1941 in Roderfield, he was a son of the late Jesse H. and Pauline Pennington Rose. He had been a resident of Rt. 2 Rock for 36 years. He was a disabled coal miner from US Steel #50 in Pineville and was a member of the Local 1730. He was an honorably discharged veteran from the National Guard and was a member of the Mt. Grove Community Church on Browning Lambert Mountain for many years where he served as a deacon for many years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Edward, Wayne and James Rose; 2 nephews, Thomas Barry Christian and James ”Jimmy” Rose; a brother in law, Wayne O’Dell; and a sister in law, Freda Hatfield.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Grover and Lois Jones and Rev. Eddie Mabe officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton with nephews serving as pallbearers.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
